Trivium were formed in Orlando, Florida in 1999, when a teenage Matt Heafy impressed with a Metallica cover at a school talent show and was recruited into the band as guitarist — only to take over as vocalist shortly after. Together with guitarist Corey Beaulieu and bassist Paolo Gregoletto, he has since formed the band’s creative core. The breakthrough came with Ascendancy in 2005, which was named album of the year by Kerrang!, and Trivium have since delivered ten studio albums spanning from the thrash-driven The Crusade and the epic Shogun to the Grammy-nominated The Sin and the Sentence.
In Flames is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg, formed in 1990. Since the band's inception, they have released ten studio albums and one live DVD. As of 2008, In Flames has sold over 2 million records worldwide. In Flames was founded in 1990 by Jesper Strömblad as a side project from his then-current death metal band, Ceremonial Oath. His purpose was to write songs with a more melodic musical direction, something which he was not allowed to do in Ceremonial Oath. In 1993, Strömblad decided to quit Ceremonial Oath due to musical differences and began focusing more on In Flames.

The venue
"We are thrilled that this project, through incredible collaboration with the city of San Francisco, the Nob Hill neighborhood, the Masons and Live Nation, is nearing completion," said Jodi Goodman, president of Live Nation Northern California. The initial lineup of artists slated to appear at the venue includes Old Crow Medicine Show on Sept. 20, Train on Sept. 21 and 22, Pixies on Sept. 30, Daryl Hall and John Oates on Oct. 17, and the 1975 on Nov. 18.
Expansion plans for the 56-year-old facility at 1111 California St. were originally drafted in 2009 and approved by the city Planning Commission and then by the Board of Supervisors on a split vote a year later, only to be torpedoed by neighbors concerned that turning the building into a regular stop for touring bands would result in an influx of loud music, late night revelers and idling tour buses.
Originally, Live Nation asked for 95 events a year and 11 concession stands selling alcohol. The final wording of the agreement caps concerts at 54 a year and allows just two bars unless attendance goes over 3,000. In addition, no event can end later than 11 p.m. on weeknights and 11:30 p.m. on weekends, although the promoter could request that three events per year extend until 1 a.m.
