Metal Church formed in 1980 in Aberdeen/Seattle, Washington, founded by guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof. An influential bridge between traditional heavy metal and thrash, their self-titled 1984 debut is a genre landmark. The band continues in 2026 with a revamped lineup featuring bassist David Ellefson and new vocalist Brian Allen behind the album Dead to Rights.
